You may be part of a new open class action settlement reached with Comcast over allegations that a 2023 cybersecurity incident exposed sensitive personal information of customers.
The class action lawsuits claim that Comcast failed to properly safeguard customer data, resulting in unauthorized access to names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, and other personal information for millions of current and former customers.
Comcast denies wrongdoing but agreed to settle the claims to avoid continued litigation.
The proposed settlement totals $117.5 million, subject to final court approval.
You may qualify if your personal information was impacted in the Comcast data breach that occurred in or around 2023. Eligible class members generally include current or former Comcast customers whose data was accessed without authorization.
Eligible class members may choose one of the following benefits:
• Reimbursement for documented out-of-pocket losses related to identity theft, up to $10,000
• A flat $50 cash payment if no documented losses are claimed
• Three years of identity theft protection and credit monitoring
If claims exceed the settlement fund, payments may be reduced on a pro rata basis.
Once the court grants final approval, an official settlement website and claim form will be launched. We will link the claim portal on this page when it becomes available.
If the settlement receives final approval in 2026, payments are expected to be issued later in 2026 or in early 2027, after claims are reviewed.
The claim deadline will be announced in the court’s preliminary approval order and official class notice.
• Data breach disclosure: 2023
• Settlement reached in principle: January 2026
• Preliminary approval hearing: Pending
Additional dates will be added once the court schedules them.
Settlement payments are typically issued several months after final approval, assuming no appeals delay distribution.
Some class members may be automatically verified using Comcast’s internal records. Others may need to provide documentation of identity theft losses to receive reimbursement beyond the flat payment.
The class action alleges that Comcast failed to implement adequate cybersecurity measures, allowing hackers to access sensitive consumer data. Claims include negligence, breach of contract, and violations of consumer protection laws. Comcast denies liability.
More than 30 million current and former Comcast customers may have been impacted by the breach.
