What Is This Settlement About?

Complete Payroll Solutions, LLC, a Massachusetts-based payroll and HR services provider, agreed to a $2.6 million class action settlement resolving claims over a data security incident discovered on or around March 10, 2024. According to the official settlement notice, an unauthorized party gained access to company systems containing personal information — including names, addresses, Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, financial information, and health insurance information — of approximately 376,943 people, many of them employees of the businesses that used Complete Payroll Solutions to process their payroll. Notices were mailed to impacted individuals between February 25 and April 25, 2025.

Complete Payroll Solutions denies any wrongdoing, and the court has not decided who is right. The settlement received preliminary approval on February 18, 2026, and the claims window is open now — but it is short: claims must be submitted by June 18, 2026.

Who Qualifies?

The settlement class covers individuals who were sent a notice from Complete Payroll Solutions that their personal information may have been impacted in the data incident, or who were otherwise determined to have potentially had their information affected. You did not need to be a direct customer — most class members are employees whose employers used Complete Payroll Solutions for payroll processing.

If you received a notice letter from the settlement administrator — it carries a Unique ID and PIN — you are in the class. You can confirm eligibility and review the full class definition on the official settlement website at CPSSettlement.com.

How Much Can You Get?

The settlement offers three benefits from the $2.6 million fund:

• Pro rata cash payment: a one-time payment with no receipts or documentation required, which court documents estimate at approximately $100. The final amount depends on how many valid claims are filed.
• Documented loss reimbursement: up to $5,000 for documented monetary losses fairly traceable to the data breach — for example fraud losses, fees for credit freezes or credit reports, and other out-of-pocket costs. Reasonable supporting documentation is required.
• Credit monitoring: three years of credit monitoring services — claimants receive an enrollment code — including one-bureau credit monitoring, dark web monitoring, $1 million in identity theft insurance, and fully managed identity recovery services. No documentation is required for this option.

Per the official notice, the cash benefits stack: you can claim documented losses, the pro rata cash payment, or both, and add credit monitoring on top of either. The final pro rata amount is calculated after administration costs, court-approved fees, documented-loss claims, and monitoring are paid from the fund, and may increase or decrease with the number of valid claims.

How to File a Claim

The fastest way to file is online at the official settlement website. Filing online requires the Unique ID and PIN printed on your notice letter and takes only a few minutes. You can also download, print, and mail a paper claim form, which must be postmarked by the deadline.

If you lost or never received your notice letter, use the contact options on the official settlement website to reach the administrator for help before the deadline. Submit your claim at CPSSettlement.com.

Important Deadlines

The deadline to submit a claim is June 18, 2026 — online submissions are due by 11:59 p.m. ET, and mailed claims must be postmarked by that date. The deadline to exclude yourself from or object to the settlement was May 19, 2026, and has passed. The court will hold the final fairness hearing on June 25, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. ET in Boston; payments are issued only after the settlement receives final approval and any appeals are resolved.

Beware of Scams

Legitimate settlement administrators never ask you to pay a fee to file a claim or to receive a payment. File only through the official settlement website and never share more information than the claim form requires.

If you have been affected by other data incidents, you may have additional open claims — see our roundup of active data breach settlements. The Absolute Dental data breach settlement shares the same June 18, 2026 claim deadline.
