What Is This Settlement About?

A proposed class action settlement has been reached to resolve claims arising from a data breach involving Robbie D. Wood, Inc. According to the notice, the company's computer systems were hit by a targeted cyberattack in October 2024, and certain files containing personal information were accessed. The case is captioned Worrell v. Robbie D. Wood, Inc., Case No. 68-CV-2025-900681.00, pending in the Circuit Court for the Tenth Judicial Circuit in and for Jefferson County, Alabama.

The lawsuit alleges the company failed to adequately protect this personal information. Robbie D. Wood, Inc. denies that it did anything wrong, and the court has not decided who is right; the company agreed to the settlement to avoid the costs and risks of continued litigation. Who Qualifies?

The court has defined the settlement class as all individuals residing in the United States whose personal information was compromised in the data breach discovered by Robbie D. Wood in October 2024, including all those who received notice of the breach. Excluded are the defendant, anyone who timely opts out, and the assigned judges and their staff and families.

You are a settlement class member entitled to benefits if you received notice of the data breach or settlement from Robbie D. Wood. That notice contains a Notice ID that you will need to file a claim online.

How Much Can You Get?

Class members can choose one of two payment options:

Documented loss reimbursement of up to $5,000 for actual, documented out-of-pocket losses that are fairly traceable to the data breach and incurred between October 1, 2024 and August 5, 2026. Eligible losses can include money lost to identity theft or fraud; fees for credit reports, credit monitoring, or freezing and unfreezing your credit incurred on or after February 11, 2025; the cost to replace IDs; postage to contact banks by mail; and accountant fees or other out-of-pocket costs related to tax issues. This option requires supporting documentation such as receipts or bank statements; self-prepared notes alone are not enough.

Alternatively, class members may choose a one-time cash payment of $65 with no proof or documentation required. If you choose this option you cannot also claim documented losses, though you may still claim credit monitoring.

Separately, all class members may enroll in two years of CyEx Medical Shield Complete, which includes $1 million of identity theft insurance and monitoring for fraud, identity theft, and unauthorized financial activity. Payment amounts may be adjusted on a pro rata basis depending on the number of valid claims submitted and the funds available.

How to File a Claim

The fastest way to file is online through the official settlement website, RDW Settlement.com. To log in to the online claim form you will need the Notice ID printed on the notice you received, along with your last name. Choose either the $65 alternative cash payment or the documented-loss option, and upload your supporting documents if you are claiming reimbursed losses. You can also download a paper claim form and mail it to the settlement administrator. If you have lost your notice or do not have your Notice ID, use the contact options on the official settlement website to request assistance.

Important Deadlines

The deadline to submit a claim is August 5, 2026 — online submissions and mailed claim forms must be in or postmarked by that date. The deadline to exclude yourself from (opt out of) or object to the settlement is July 6, 2026. The court will hold the final approval hearing on August 18, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. Central Time in Room 340 of the Circuit Court of Jefferson County, Alabama, in Bessemer; the date may change, so check the official settlement website for updates. Payments are issued only after the court grants final approval and any appeals are resolved.

Beware of Scams

Filing a legitimate claim is free. The settlement administrator will not ask you to pay a fee to receive your payment, and no one connected to the settlement will call to demand your Social Security number, full bank account number, or payment to "release" your funds. File only through the official settlement website and ignore unsolicited calls, texts, or emails that ask for sensitive information or payment.
