What the Lawsuit Alleged
The lawsuit alleged that Reckitt Benckiser misrepresented Woolite detergents labeled “Color Renew” or “revives colors” because the products did not renew or restore clothing colors as consumers allegedly understood those statements. Reckitt denied the claims and did not admit wrongdoing.
Who Was Included
The settlement covered purchasers of qualifying Woolite products in California, New York, and Massachusetts. The applicable purchase windows varied by state and ended May 1, 2023. Woolite Delicates was not included merely because it carried the Woolite brand.
How Payments Were Calculated
The notice estimated a payment of about $5 for each covered product claimed. Claims without proof were limited to three products per household. Additional units required purchase documentation, and the final per-product amount could change based on the approved claims and settlement costs.
Covered Labels
Qualifying detergents had to bear the challenged “Color Renew” and/or “revives colors” language. A purchase of a different Woolite product was not enough by itself.
What Former Claimants Should Know
The payment stage ended in 2024. Former claimants should retain their confirmation, approval notice, and transaction or check record. Open Class Actions cannot review a denied claim or issue a replacement payment.
